The magic of the morning, women’s singing and the ritual of light – a concert at dawn on the Orłowo pier
The girls from Sutari performed at Globaltica in 2019 as part of an additional day, which was held under the name Polish Showcase Day. They are returning to celebrate the festival anniversary – this time their concert will be a unique and unrepeatable experience.
Sunrise is not only a moment of transition between night and day – it is a phenomenon full of symbolism, present for centuries in rituals and beliefs of various cultures. It is a time of renewal, a beginning, a moment of vigilance and inner silence. It is precisely when the light is just beginning to touch the horizon, and the sea reflects the first warm rays, that the Sutari concert will begin – in one of the most picturesque places in the Tri-City, on the pier in Orłowo, right above the Baltic Sea.
It will be an event that escapes the classic categories of stage and spectacle. It is rather a joint ceremony – intimate, quiet, deeply rooted in nature. Surrounded by birdsong, the smell of salt in the air and the rhythmic sound of waves, listeners will be able to experience music in an almost meditative, organic way, touching the deepest emotions.
The Sutari band consists of three artists: Kasia Kapela, Basia Songin and Dobromiła Życzyńska – multi-instrumentalists, singers, performers and composers. Each of them brings a different baggage of experience to the band: from classical music, through jazz, to theatre and experimental art. It is this diversity that makes their music so unconventional – deeply rooted in tradition, and at the same time boldly modern.
From the beginning of their activity, Sutari have chosen their own path – away from folk patterns. Inspired by traditional songs from Poland, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine, they create their own arrangements that balance between old village singing, vocal polyphony, improvised music and sound performance.
Sutari are the voices of women who are not afraid to speak their own language. Their music is intimate, organic and radically honest – full of emotions, subtlety, but also strength. These are songs about femininity, body, work, love, cycles of nature and transformation. They sing not only for the ear – they sing for the heart, for memory, for those who came before us.
The dawn concert with Sutari is a moment of pause. An invitation to be here and now. A reminder that music can be a ritual – simple but profound. In the morning light of Orłowo, between the sky and the water, their singing will sound like the first breath of the day.
