Family sessions (children must be accompanied by an adult)
During the workshop, participants will work on botanical illustrations created using plants gathered in the local area and other available materials. They will accompany these with short texts serving as personal, literary (poetic or prose) commentary. The result will be a unique, personalised memento of the summer.
Classes with Barbara Piórkowska are not just about working with plants. We’ll explore strategies for writing about urban greenery; the writer will also share a few technical tips on writing and recount some interesting facts about plants. We’ll discover the power of crafting sentences about what we’ve seen, heard, smelled – and experienced in connection with the nature around us.
Nature is fascinating; it’s worth writing about it and always keeping it close at hand – on a blog, in a notebook – wherever you like. What’s more, working in a group will give you the chance to share your thoughts and inspire each other to continue your work.
The workshops are aimed at beginners and those with intermediate skills, as well as anyone who enjoys nature and would like to try their hand at describing it. We particularly welcome nature lovers who wish to organise their knowledge on the subject and find inspiration to write about their botanical interests, create their own herbariums, or run blogs or Facebook pages related to nature and the care of houseplants, balconies and gardens.
Duration: 2–2.5 hours
