Kapela Agopsowicza is a group specializing in traditional rural dance music from central Poland, primarily the Radom region. Their performance will be a unique invitation to join in the fun – Friday evening at Globaltica will conclude with a dance party in the festival tent. For years, the musicians have been learning directly from rural masters – fiddlers, harmonists, and singers – learning not only the melodies themselves but also the techniques of playing, singing, and leading traditional dances.
The band’s repertoire includes obereks, mazurkas, and polkas – pieces that once resounded at weddings and rural dances, often sung spontaneously by the participants themselves. It is precisely this atmosphere that the group strives to recreate during its performances: without any distance between the stage and the audience, with music played “to the feet,” communal singing, and an energy that naturally transfers to the dance floor.
The musicians play instruments characteristic of the central Polish tradition – fiddle, three-row accordion, frame drum, baraban, and the country cello known as the basy. The band’s sound is raw, rhythmic, and very direct – precisely the kind that has been danced to for generations in rural homes and firehouses.
Friday’s dance with Kapela Agopsowicza will be an opportunity to experience traditional music in its most natural form – as a shared experience full of movement, rhythm, and spontaneity.
