During the meeting, Sebastian talks about life for visually impaired people, accessibility, discusses savoir-vivre towards people with disabilities and proper behavior towards an assistance dog.
At the meetings, he also shows how a visually impaired person uses the phone, social media and modern technology. I talk about the limitations inherent in our heads – that is, how he trains in krav maga, boxing, skydiving or horseback riding.
The very topic of visual impairment, although exhausted during the meetings, is a pretext for talking about empathy, openness, respect and diversity, and the fact that the limitations are mainly in our heads... At the meetings I also take up the topics of self-acceptance, coping with difficult emotions and life situations, as well as counteracting violence.
SEBASTIAN GRZYWACZ – activist, motivational speaker, trainer, educator, guide of the Invisible Exhibition in Warsaw, director of the Invisible Education Center Foundation, owner of the Departed Blind – Misja Edukacja.
Blind for 17 years. For many years actively fighting for the right of people with disabilities to accessibility of public space, culture and education. He does not focus exclusively on the blind community, during his lectures and trainings he also pays attention to other disabilities.
He is an active user of social media, where he educates about accessibility and life for the blind. He created an author profile called ODLOTOWY NIEWIDOMY, which is available on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram. As a creator, he was recognized by TikTok’s chapter in the 2024 TikTok Awards poll in the social impact category.
In 2022 he was in the finals of the 10th edition of the Jan Rodowicz “Anoda” Award for lifetime achievement. In 2023, he was nominated for the Varsovians of the Year award in the category of Varsovian of the Year. Living actively, raising his son, working, playing sports and developing his passions, he proves that we have limitations mainly in our heads. And the architectural and social ones – through education – can be minimized.
